2027 Medicinal and Bioorganic Chemistry Foundation Student Travel Fellowships

The Medicinal and Bioorganic Chemistry Foundation was established for the arrangement and sponsorship of international conferences, symposia, and educational programs that are dedicated to the advancement of bioorganic, synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry.

The Foundation will next sponsor the 18^th Winter Conference on Medicinal and Bioorganic Chemistry, which will be held in the Steamboat Grand Hotel, Steamboat Springs, Colorado from Sunday January 31^st to Thursday February 4^th, 2027. The 18^th Winter Conference will bring together industrial and academic scientists from across the chemistry-medicine continuum and will be focused on drug discovery and development.

The Foundation will be providing support for research active undergraduate students and graduate students to attend the 2027 Conference. Students who are carrying out research in medicinal chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, bioorganic chemistry, and chemical biology are encouraged to apply. All Fellowship recipients will have to present the results of their research in the Conference poster session. The top undergraduate and graduate student poster presenters will receive cash prizes.

The Board of the Foundation will evaluate all applications and award up to 15 fellowships. Fellowship support includes registration fees, 6 nights of lodging during the conference dates, and up to $700 towards transportation. Students must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in North America. The Foundation seeks to support a diverse cohort of MBCF Scholars and allow them to meet and interact with chemists from industry and academia.

Application Process

Students who meet the eligibility criteria below are invited to apply for an MBCF Student Travel Fellowship through the MBCF Abstract Submission Portal.

Eligibility

Applicants must:
– Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme in North America
– Have a GPA greater than 3.4
– Have experience working in a research laboratory and have made sufficient individual intellectual contributions to their research to present a poster at the conference

Application Requirements

Applicants should prepare the following documents and combine them into a single PDF file:
– Transcript – an unofficial transcript is acceptable
– Curriculum Vitae – recommended length of 1–2 pages
– Research Summary – prepared by the applicant, maximum 1 page, using 11-point font

Letter of Recommendation

A letter of recommendation from the applicant’s research mentor is also required. The mentor should email the letter directly to claire@scientificupdate.com.

Application Deadline

The transcript, CV and research summary must be submitted by 11:59 pm Mountain Time on November 1, 2026.

All fellowship recipients will be notified by late November 2026.
