The MBCF’s first major initiative was to establish the Winter Conference Series in Medicinal and Bioorganic Chemistry. Now established as a seminal conference series within the medicinal chemistry community, this biennial event presents a program of symposia dedicated to technologies and principles at the cutting edge of bioorganic and medicinal chemistry.
The first Winter Conference was held in January 1995, at Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Since that first conference, the MBCF has sponsored subsequent workshops in January 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009. During February 26 – March 2, 2006 in Clearwater Beach, Florida, we added an additional special conference to the Steamboat Series. Our next dates for Steamboat Springs are January 23-27, 2011.
Previous keynote speakers include Professors John Katzenellenbogen, Stephen Benkovic, Stephen Hanessian, Dale Boger, Chi-Huey Wong, Daniel H. Rich, Laura Kiessling, Steven V. Ley and Pfizer associate, Christopher A. Lipinski. The Keynote speaker in 2011 is Dr Joe Shih from Eli Lilly.
